Tragedy Girls (2017)

Genre: Horror/ Comedy

Time: 1h 38mins

Director: Tyler MacIntyre

Quick Summary: A twist on the slasher genre, following two death-obsessed teenage girls who use their online show about real-life tragedies to send their small mid-western town into a frenzy, and cement their legacy as modern horror legends.

I was distracted most of the runtime since there's a 25-year-old actor who looks way older than he is, playing a 17-year-old.

This was definitely made for Netflix, or at least felt like it. This was also definitely made for tweens because it was playing it safe most of the time. It never really stood out of the box or did anything extra because it's like every other horror film that's similar to it, making it incredibly predictable. I wish they maybe, fought over something like being the more popular Killer online.

I know you're not supposed to like the main characters as they are actually the bad guys, but I really didn't like them. So, it's a pretty good representation of teens then. Obnoxious, glued to their phone, do not think about how anything could affect someone else's life. Honestly, I'm surprised they got away with what they did. Hilariously too, they openly talk about the things they want to do to people in public; like nobody is going to hear them.

Regardless, I somehow enjoyed watching this. I guess I liked how simple it was. A lot of the time I was just laughing because of how stupid people were, or the things that were going on would realistically not happen. It tries to also pull a few twists but they are as twisty as a ruler. Shame they kept it simple because it would have been really interesting to see how they got interested in becoming killers, how they managed to learn to hide the bodies, and such things as having a second phone came into play. So many lost opportunities with this.

I guess this is a fun start into the horror-comedy genre or aren't too keen on horror, but those who are fans will probably be a little disappointed.
