Halloween II (1981)

Genre: Horror/ Slasher

Time:1h 32mins

Director: Rick Rosenthal

Quick Summary: While Dr. Loomis hunts for Michael Myers, a traumatized Laurie is rushed to Haddonfield Memorial Hospital, and The Shape is not far behind her.

I can't tell you how creepy this movie was, there are a lot of sequels to this, but for any horror movie fan or Halloween fan, they are a ton of fun to get into. This one specifically is a must-watch.

The whole hospital setting was terrifying, I love Laurie Strode, she's the strongest female in a horror movie, she's in a weakened state but just keeps going. It is honestly so thrilling to watch her desperately stumble around this dark hospital in agony. Even when she stumbles across the various people who have been killed, the whole thing is so tense to watch.

From the opening sequence, we pick up exactly where the first film left off, making the two movies play like one whole movie in two separate parts which is so fun to binge admittedly. Though what I did like, even if you haven't seen the first one (why haven't you) this one is still really enjoyable to watch. I don't think you need any prior knowledge to still have fun with this.

Michael seems to be much more angry and dangerous in this one. He's not in the shadows anymore and it seems his mask has changed, not for the greater good. he is a lot creepier and scarier in this one too. There is more force to him, I mean he literally walks through a glass door with zero reactions. Micheal you good buddy? The long hallway shots and the creepy music make the setting a classic in horror. Michael roams the halls, searching for Laurie and killing anyone who gets in the way. This guy is on a mission and is absolutely unstoppable in this one.

At one point he is shot twice in the face and there is this pretty cool shot of blood coming from his eyes and he still stands there attempting to attack the shooter.

This has so many elements of the original but still manages to be its own thing which I do really like. It's not too far off what we originally had, but it refreshes itself into something new and enjoyable.

If you liked the original, watch this one too. It's not as perfect as the first but it is such a good sequel.

8/10

Sam Loomis: What?

Leigh Brackett: The point where I stop taking orders from you."
