My 50-year-old Coworker would love this.
Sometimes in life, I like to experience what the older generation deems as a romance film to understand why their relationships fail so much. This was a prime-time experience. I feel like the premise of this is very wild, like who in their right mind would want to do this and find it romantic.
It was kind of funny to me to see the older generation's version of a manic dream pixie girl. But I think the paring is very confusing, a straight-laced old guy who is a music snob unless it's 90s rock and a spiritually free-living woman who travels to massage people. No boomers are like this, who are they trying to kid.
The dialogue was atrocious. It was like an AI had created a script and there was no way a human could create lines like "It's rhythm, not Algorithm.". Their conversations were so dull and even though I found them unfunny, I feel like the older generation would find it hilarious as they complain about how social media and technology have ruined life. Nothing really happens either, they just sit there and talk about nothing for ages. It's not even visually fun. Don't get me wrong, dialogue-heavy films can be good, if done right. Which this was not.
Maybe some flashbacks would have been nice to spice it up and see how they were in the past as they're talking about it. Also, they just dumped crucial information randomly which honestly gave me a bit of emotional whiplash as they went from talking about food to how they lost their baby when they were together halfway into the film, which has no mention previously.
Recommend this to your mum maybe, but otherwise give this a miss. You'll thank me later.
2/10
