Quick Summary: The story of how one of the world's most popular video games found its way to players around the globe. Businessman Henk Rogers and Tetris inventor Alexey Pazhitnov joined forces in the USSR, risking it all to bring it to the masses.

Who knew Tetris was involved with politics.

Okay, this had my interest for most of the runtime, as it was really interesting. I didn't realise how much backstory there was to this simple little game, but sadly, the longer this film went on, the less I was interested. It has a promising start with lots of flash visuals and really upbeat, quick pacing to hold your attention, but as soon as it hits the halfway mark it loses it. I understand it's due to the more serious nature of that part of the film, but we need something when the story is a bore.

I really think this should have only been one hour and a half, the story would have fit together really nicely still. Another part of the problem is I don't think the actors were interesting enough, I'm not sure if it was the script or their acting, but everything was rather dull. Don't even get me started on the car chase scene that was apparently a must-have to have. Having to keep track of everyone was impossible at times as to who had interacted/gone behind someone's back.

Whilst the 80s/90s cute game music was charming at first, it began to grate on me when it would just play randomly or even be used as a transition from a car to outside. Added to this it sounded so generic, that I have probably heard it millions of times.

I think, really the only thing that kept me watching this was that I wanted to know what actually happened so we could have Tetris now. But I probably would have been better off reading the Wiki on it.
