Terrifier 2 (2022)
Genre: Horror/ Crime
Time: 2h 18mins
Director: Damien Leone
Quick Summary: After being resurrected by a sinister entity, Art the Clown returns to the timid town of Miles County where he targets a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween night.
Seriously someone should check on the director.
Who gave this a budget? Because thank you. If you liked the gore in the last one then you will certainly love it in this one as it is amplified by a million. Honestly, it has some of the most extreme gore scenes I have ever seen, and I've seen some intense horror films. This is one of the most violent clowns I have ever seen, but he's equally as silly.
Our silly little murderous goober is more extra in this one as he really hams up the campy humour. I'm so glad they decided to give him more screen time in this. I could just watch him for hours and be content.
Even though they made those things so much better, unfortunately, it's like they took what was bad in the last one and made them worse. The acting is still awful, and the script is somehow worse. But this time, they made the film so much longer than it needed to be by giving the main characters's whole family backgrounds and exploring them for a good hour and a bit.
I said the pacing was too quick in the last one, well they slowed it right down in this one. Too slow sadly. It took so long for something to actually happen and I lost interest by the halfway point. Luckily, because of how brutal the second half of the film is, my interest was gained again.
Something I wasn't too sure about as well was that it felt like they were trying to connect these characters to the clown in a way that I wouldn't spoil, but it felt really cheap if it was going to do it. Sure there is still time with a 3rd film coming out this year, but this film is modern and I would be very disappointed if they chose that route.
Admittedly, I did like this because of the gore and the clown shenanigans, as well if I didn't like the previous film this would be a very hard film to follow. I do recommend it for the gore and if you're a fan of the previous.
5/10
