Quick Summary: When Woody is stolen by a toy collector, Buzz and his friends set out on a rescue mission to save Woody before he becomes a museum toy property with his roundup gang Jessie, Prospector, and Bullseye.
They knew what they were doing last time and they kept it for the second, which I am so glad for.
This is pretty much the same type of formula as the last one but better. It's more. It feels more refined.
I think this has one of my favourite and most satisfying scenes I've ever seen, which is when Woody is being cleaned up. They really didn't have to go into as much detail as they did but boy it was so nice to watch. It was basically ASMR before it was a thing. Watching a cotton swab polish his eyeballs and his stitching being redone. It's just a really cool scene that I loved to watch.
One thing this has over the first is it is definitely way more emotional and more complex. Dealing with themes of letting go, identity crisis, abandonment and feeling vulnerable. Like the previous this is easy for kids to understand too, without being too upsetting to them. Woody is the main focus in this, as he is not sure who he really is. What he should choose to do with his life and the weight that comes with decisions like that.
None of this feels slow either, the pacing is incredibly well done. It's kept with the humour too, so that is a bonus.
I loved the introduction of Jessie and Bullseye. They're both great additions to the gang and are both absolutely adorable. Jessie's backstory of being incredibly sad brings a very gentle side to this. Even though it is painful, she is stronger for it but she still shows her weaknesses in a healthy way. It shows that yes, it is scary to accept people after being hurt, but it's okay to feel that way. Support is a strong theme in this that I simply adore.
Admittedly, there isn't much to be said about this one that hasn't been said previously. It's a perfect sequel that I'm sure everyone will love.
10/10

Hamm: All right, nobody look till I get my cork back in."
"Hamm: You heard of Kung Fu? Well get ready for pork chop."
