Genre: Horror/ Slasher
Time: 2 hours
Director: Wes Craven
Quick Summary: While Sidney and her friends visit the Hollywood set of Stab 3, the third film based on the Woodsboro murders, another Ghostface killer rises to terrorize them.
Gale, what are you doing with that violation of a haircut. Who did this to you?
Okay, this one is just so boring and nothing happens. As well this one, though about Sidney, feels like Gale is actually the main character. Honestly, she and Dewey are on the screen more than Sidney and even then their scenes are so uninteresting. Like get this romance drama out of here and let's get back to the killing. Their romance just feels so forced to me and destined to not work.
I wasn't interested in any of the new characters introduced, as they all felt so shallow. Admittedly I did forget who people were a lot of the time. It still keeps the in-joke of "Stab", the film spoofing the entire Scream trilogy, with characters playing the originals and making fun of things that happened previously as a third instalment. Somehow this manages to tie in with the wild plot that brings back Sidney's dead mother and the new Ghostface.
Okay, why is Ghostface so clumsy in this one. ALL the fights he is in, he is either tripping over something, running into something, or being thrown into a wall. Honestly, he just eats dirt every five minutes which admittedly made me enjoy this a bit more. It does lose the tension to any fight scene though, as if he's falling over a chair how is he able to even kill someone. Try harder man.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but the reveal of the killer in this one is even more bizarre than the last. Maybe it was just for pure shock factor, but it made no sense at all. I think, admittedly I was watching this one to see who the killer was and it wasn't even worth it.
This feels just like a cash-in and has no care to it. Sure, it keeps with jokes about film cliches and "rules", but it doesn't feel the same sadly. I don't think I actually remember any of the kills in this one they were that uninteresting. I'm pretty sure this recycles a lot from the first and second films, which could have been nice easter eggs or references, but they just came across as cheap and lazy.
Probably give this a watch if you are new to the franchise, but don't expect anything new or interesting. It's a slog to get through and I feel as if the ending is not worth it.
"Dewey: The killer called her.
Mark: When?
Gale: What'd he say?
Sidney: Oh you know the usual small talk. "What's new?" "How you been?" "How do you wanna die?""
