John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017)

Genre: Action/ Thriller

Time: 2 Hours

Director: Chad Stahelski

Quick Summary: After returning to the criminal underworld to repay a debt, John Wick discovers that a large bounty has been put on his life.

Yawn.

One thing I want to get out of the way is apparently everyone is an Assassin, yet cannot shoot to save their lives. Only John Wick can shoot people. You'd think they'd do a better job since literally everyone is one. At least I think so because there would be all these fights happening in public and even in broad daylight and nobody would bat an eye. Especially one scene where John is trying to run away from someone and they're shooting at each other, whilst walking in a public walkway tunnel. Surely, someone would have heard the gunshots or even seen them.

This one feels like they just took all the bad parts of the first one and action films in general and put them into this. Keanu's acting is no better. There are even more fights with just no music. For some reason, they decided the first one didn't have enough boring dialogue so they made sure half of this film is boring dialogue.

At least this had some funky cinematography. I loved the last fight with all the mirrors as John and the others kept weaving between them all, some upside-down shots, and all sorts of visual tricks.

The other issue is that this is incredibly repetitive, the same sort of fight over and over again. This got the mindless action down to a T. It got really boring really quickly. Mostly I waited for this one to end so I could move on to the next. I'm glad the ending of this created such a good setup for the next.

2/10
