Final Destination 5 (2011)

Genre: Horror/ Sci-Fi

Time: 1h 32mins

Director: Steven Quale

Quick Summary: Death returns to claim the lucky survivors of a deadly bridge collapse in this fifth frightening instalment in the series.

Who was the genius that thought it was a good idea to call the last one the final destination? Like who were they kidding, of course they were going to make more after it.

I think like the previous, this really had nothing going for it. The plot is that people die. I genuinely can't think of anything else that happened in this. Don't get me wrong the deaths are really intense one poor girl basically snaps her spine backwards and her legs outward, or another has a high-speed super precise laser go over her eye multiple times and then she falls out of a high-story building.

The beginning of this film had a pretty cool opening massacre with the collapse of a giant bridge. It was honestly really interesting to watch the various ways people were whacked and slashed, so points were given there.

I didn't really care for any of the characters so much that I do not even remember their names, aside from one. Peter. But there is a reason for that.

Peter is the one who brings about this instalment's version of  "new and refreshing". Which is a life for a life, which isn't actually confirmed. Shame they only use this right at the end of the film to then completely rectify it so that they can loop the ending to this film, to the beginning of the very first one. It's like jamming two jigsaw pieces together that clearly do not fit.

If you just want to see gruesome deaths then this is the film for you, otherwise, skip this. Not really worth your time as it doesn't actually continue the story of this franchise. It just takes you back to the start as a cop-out. They really had no creative thoughts here.

4/10
