Why haven't sprite made an advert with Nicolas Cage after this?

This is pretty bizarre, but I was loving it as you watch this absolute loser of a man bumble through life, and then all of a sudden get famous because he's appearing in people's dreams randomly to then suddenly get "canceled". Just watching him react to everything is just brilliant, and you know what makes it better. It's Nicolas Cage.

The dream scenes are actually pretty funny to be honest, because they actually mimic real dreams that are wild as hell. Being chased by an alligator? Nicolas cage walks past and waves. Teeth falling out? Nicolas cage is just sitting there watching you. You and everything around you is being pulled up into the air? Nicolas Cage is sweeping your garden. Though I wouldn't want one where he's just standing in a dark corner.

I did get a little lost in this as really, it's not that interesting after the beginning plays out. You're just watching him further bumble through his new found fame and trying to adjust to social media, which does get a little boring. Then you're just cringing at how he is reacting after being cancelled. Like come on man, let it go.

How this kept intersting is because of Nicolas Cage and his usual acting. He keeps up his usual awkward but actually very hilarious way of behaving, including his freakouts. That's actually why I kept watching this, just to indulge in him.

The humour is pretty dry, but it does have it's really awkward moments, like cringe inducing. Sadly though, about halfway through the film and goes more into a drama. Sure I get it, what was happening did need to have more a serious tone, but this portion of the film is where it lost me and my interest. It just doesn't have the same grab the first half did. Maybe it was because it slowed down even more and really dragged out some moments, even with the pacing issues it already had.

One thing about this is that what happens can be taken multiple ways. It can be taken literally, this guy has no idea and no control over what is happening. Or It can be taken with a bit more thought, by you realise what is happening is actually because of his own actions. It's the guilt, the burden, the shame, the greed, the ego coming out and going into other people's minds, and this guy proceeds to not know what is going on. Pretending everything is fine, believing he's done absolutely nothing wrong. You can, or can't believe that, and I like that you are able to think and decide what your opinion is.

This is still a good film regardless, just not as good as I had hoped to be. It shows the dark side of being famous and how quickly that can go, even things out of your control. This gets depressing be warned, but if you love Nicolas Cage as much as I do, I'm sure this will be a good watch for you.

7/10
