Evil Dead II (1987)

Quick Summary: Ash Williams, the lone survivor of an earlier onslaught of flesh-possessing spirits, holes up in a cabin with a group of strangers while the demons continue their attack.

It's not often I say this but this was miles better than the original.

It was so much funnier too, and this time it was intentional. Now this is sort of a remake but also a sequel to the first Evil Dead, it can be a little confusing. This whole film is kind of manic as soon as the demons start attacking. This never really lets up from there and it is a wild ride of action and chaos, all while being pretty hilarious.

One scene that is actually golden is where the main guy has to cut off his possessed hand after being beaten up by it through plates and over various slapstick moments, and then there is essentially a mouse chase with the hand with the main guy shooting at it through the wall. Then after he misses, the hand sticks a middle finger up to him.

The gore is amped up to the max too, any chance it is needed it is sprayed out like it's coming out of a hose. Blood gets absolutely everywhere. The special effects have improved tons as well, even though it's still not the most realistic demons I've ever seen they're a lot scarier.

Ash is slightly different in this, but it's a mega improvement. He's honestly not too smart but he really knows how to kick ass and survive somehow. He's much more over the top but he brings so much humor to the film through his reactions to the things going on around him.

I didn't really care for any of the new characters in this, though I know they were just there to be turned into demons. I groaned at a few of them because of how unlikeable and just awful they were. 

The ending for this was so extra and I loved it. I won't spoil it but a huge demon puppet was something I didn't realise I needed to see.

This is way better than the original as it's basically an improvement in every department. If you didn't like the first then I do recommend this one, as honestly it's a lot more entertaining.
