Nine Dead (2010)

Genre: Horror/ Mystery

Time: 1h 38mins

Director: Chris Shadley

Quick Summary: Nine strangers are kidnapped and forced to figure out the connection they have to each other as one has to die every ten minutes.

So saw, but without the torture porn.

Have you ever watched saw and thought, the concept is cool but I want less blood and gore. Well this is what you get. It isn't awful to be honest. It has a really cool concept and foundation to it, but the longer this went on the more messy it got.

The main issue is that it doesn't reveal why these nine people have been brought together until the very end, which can be pretty gripping its just there are barely any clues to link them together throughout. As well, why they're linked isn't totally obvious either. I actually found it kinda silly. This plus that they only get 10 minutes to talk to each other before one person is killed, to work out whats going on seems a bit too short as for the first 30 minutes people are just trying to escape or bitch at others.

The acting is a really mixed bag. I'm not sure if it was just the characters they were given but it genuinely felt like they got random people off the street and plonked them with two actual actors.

Regardless of all this I still found this watchable. Its a dumpster fire of a film but I couldn't stop watching it. Considering this is all done in one or two locations as well is pretty impressive. It was pretty funny to watch them all bitch at each other, panic and confess what they think is the reason they're there for.

5/10
