The Dark Knight (2008)
Genre: Action/ Adventure
Time: 2h 32mins
Director: Christopher Nolan
Quick Summary: When the menace known as the Joker wreaks havoc and chaos on the people of Gotham, Batman must accept one of the greatest psychological and physical tests of his ability to fight injustice.
I'll get this out first before I say anything else. This is really overrated and really average.
It's just it was almost as boring as the first one. I don't really understand why a lot of people love this film, aside from Heath Ledger as the Joker as he was honestly really good in this.
So much happened and yet it was still so slow. I can't really describe it. There were at least 4 different subplots that were awful to keep track of whilst almost falling asleep.
At least they had improved the cinematography a bit, as I did find myself interested in the background more than the action, which had not improved. It felt like Batman took a bit of a backseat in this one and let everyone else have the screen time. I enjoyed the dialogue a bit more in this one too.
Again the villain did not have a motive, even though Heath Ledger acted incredibly well within this, there wasn't much to him. To be honest I didn't mind just watching him as it gave me a break from how mind-numbing this was. As well a lot of his dialogue was pretty funny. Harvey Dent, I also liked in this and I thought his design was really cool, being a more gritty dark version than previously done.
A lot of the things in this wouldn't happen so easily as well, which annoys me a bit since Christopher Nolan is supposed " All about reality."
Again, I think this is a film directed at specific Batman Fans, which isn't me.
5/10
"You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."
"Sometimes the truth isn't good enough, sometimes people deserve more. Sometimes people deserve to have their faith rewarded"
Cillian Murphy is still hot in this one
ReplyDeleteThis was good when it came out because it was the first series to take the comics medium seriously and treat it with respect. The movie is a great tribute to Heat, while having a lot of fantastic cinematography. It doesn't really hold up now that we're all exhausted with comic book films, but when it came out in the cinema it was amazing!
ReplyDeleteI do think about the time it came out, as we didn't actually have a lot of comic book films then but now we do, it is sadly been overdone. Maybe if I had seen it when it originally came out I might have enjoyed it more
