Missing (2023)

Genre: Thriller/ Mystery

Time: 1h 51mins

Directors:  Nicholas D. Johnson, Will Merrick

Quick Summary: After her mother goes missing, a young woman tries to find her from home, using tools available to her online.

Though I have seen this format before, I found it refreshing to watch our protagonist's screen as she frantically searches through everything. This takes place in a world where people's cameras always stay open on their computers just so we can see what's going on, which any average person wouldn't do, but at least we get to see her reactions all the time.

I love the editing in this, considering the format. Everything you need to be looking at stays focused for long enough so we can keep up and even though the screen can become a little crowded, it's never overwhelming. For those looking to find little extra easter eggs too, there are a few of them scattered about which I really liked. It does some really interesting transitions too when going from various tabs and screens.

The pacing too I really liked the, it kept it interesting for the majority of the film where things were revealed just enough to keep you on your toes or so that not too much information is given away at once. This does have a couple of red-herring plot twists which we're okay with, they did come across as believable, but when the actual plot twist was revealed I felt like it wasn't as believable as the others. It had a few holes in it that personally I don't think would have been missed by the FBI, but it made for an interesting watch still. If you don't really think about it.

I personally didn't really like the acting of the main protagonist, I just felt like she was a little lacklustre but then she does come across as realistic. Or even how she chose to go about things, didn't really feel that realistic, but it was enjoyable still.

This is a somewhat good watch, a bit far-fetched at times and predictable, but still worth a watch.

5/10
