Truth Or Dare (2018)
Genre: Horror/Thriller
Time: 1h 40mins
Director: Jeff Wadlow
Quick Summary: A harmless game of Truth or Dare among friends turns deadly when someone - or something - begins to punish those who tell a lie or refuse the dare.
This isn't a terrible film at all, I was really entertained throughout this but that's only because it's so stupid it becomes funny.
One of the biggest problems with this is the characters since they are all just archetypes and don't really branch out of those. The dialogue is so silly, and a lot of the time the characters just seemed to ever underreact or overreact to events. I did find it absolutely hilarious that in one character's death (who they were close friends with) they essentially were like oh man, sucks to be him and then on the next one they were screaming and crying.
One thing I need to bring up is when certain characters get possessed, they have this stupid face that looks like someone was playing around with filters. It doesn't look scary, it looks so silly it made me laugh the first time I saw it.
A lot of this film wasn't scary or even gorey enough to be called a horror to me, it was more of a thriller. The characters I could not enjoy them at all, with how one-dimensional they were I found it difficult to care about them. The story isn't even that exciting either, you could basically predict the whole thing.
When it came to a twist secret reveal, one character reacts in a way that actually confused me so much. Rather surprising information is shared about a certain character that most would be appalled about, but this one character chooses to hurl abuse at the one who shared the information as if they were in the wrong. At this point, I was just waiting to see the end of the film.
Mindlessly entertaining only because of how stupid it is, but don't go into this thinking you're gonna get a good story.
