Batman & Robin (1997)

Genre: Action/ Adventure

Time: 2h

Director: Joel Schumacher

Quick Summary: Batman and Robin try to keep their relationship together even as they must stop Mr Freeze and Poison Ivy from freezing Gotham City.

I don't know how they made Batman even more sillier than the last film, but they did it and I'm not mad.

I mean this is awful, and really cheesy. But it's actually still a fun film to watch. The script is dreadful, cramming a joke in every minute that is either a pun or sexual but honestly I couldn't help but laugh because it was so stupid.

My one question is why George Clooney, he was seriously miscast as he is just not suited for Batman. His performance isn't awful, it's just not good. I found Uma Thurman very over the top as Poison Ivy, but I liked it, she came off as a more cartoonish and goofy villain, being pouty and over-dramatic. I could tell she had a lot of fun in this role. Though I personally don't think she makes a good villain BUT regardless I enjoyed watching her. Arnold Schwarzenegger is equally as goofy with Ice themed Puns and jokes. I found him a bit boring to watch honestly and he didn't have much comedic charm to him.

Like the previous, this is not a serious film, it's supposed to be silly and fun. The plot is a bit messy if I'm honest but this film isn't supposed to be plot heavy. You're supposed to laugh at this. I personally think it's a nice change from the dark and gloomy Batman style.

There are a few subplots which I felt were unnecessary such as the introduction of Batgirl, I found it a bit stale and just crammed in there. A lot of people were introduced to this and really it became very messy. The action scenes were really entertaining to watch, equally as over the top as the whole film with really cartoonish sound effects.

I just find this to be a fun film and shouldn't be hated as much as it is. It's worth it if you want a campy and fun film.
